Sambhota Tibetan School, Chandragiri
Sambhota Tibetan School, Chandragiri was formerly known as Central Tibetan School Chandragiri which was inaugurated by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama on 4th Feb 1979 at Phuntsokling Tibetan settlement, Odisha. It is located in the Eastern Ghat region at the height of 1900 feet above sea level, about 250 km away from Bhubaneswar, the capital city of the state of Orissa. The nearest railway station is Brahmapur distance of 82 km and nearest Airport is Biju Patnaik International Airport Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha distance of 250 km.
On 05th May 2018, Central Tibetan School Chandragiri was handed over to the Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society under the Department of Education, CTA. Its aim and objective is to provide basic education policy for Tibetans in exile and preserve Tibetan Culture and Tradition.
Our school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi and its Regional office at Bhubaneswar. Currently, we have 102 students studying from classes VI to X with 18 teachers and Staff led by the respected Principal. Some of students are from Nepal, Himalayan Region, Arunachal Pradesh and Local Indian.
Our school comprises of a Computer room, Library, Science Laboratory, Math laboratory, Social Science Laboratory, Music/Dance Room, Counseling cell and etc. Majority of our students reside in the hostel which is run by the Tibetan settlement Office funded by Nyari Chithune Tsokpa (Swiss). Since the inception of Central School for Tibetans, Chandragiri, there have been many effective and efficient principals running the school. Currently, Mr. Samdup Dorjee is serving here as the school principal..
